Encuentro Africa Vive. Centros Educativos

As a result of this weekend meeting between the associations of Africans and artists in Madrid, the ideas to organise what will be the África Vive 2010 Fiesta will arise, in the framework of the 2nd edition of this festival organised by Casa África. The aim is to present all of the associations and the work they carry out, and on another hand, to carry out artistic workshops that will allow us to obtain specific results by working together.

This Meeting is structured into two days of work. There will be workshops, conferences, music, stories, games, and theatre, and a total of approximately 65 people will participate, between associations of Africans and artists.

The objectives that this meeting aims to reach are:
• To inform of the work carried out by each of our entities, as well as the people that participate in them.
• To establish real exchange channels between the various associations and people.
• To present the work carried out by Casa Africa.
• To inform about Africa Vive 2010 and the plan of action.
• To work together on an artistic level for the Africa Vive activity.
• To understand the reality of Africans in Spain, and the work carried out by their associations.

Task framework:
To bring Africa´s reality closer to our society, generating an exchange that entails modified attitudes, fostering solidarity. Additionally, the project aims to promote citizen participation and to foster commitment towards human development that is more fair and supportive, and towards defending human rights, from the two shores of the migratory processes.

Contents to focus on:
• Cultural, historical, sociological, unknown or silenced aspects of the African continent, which allow to eliminate stereotypes and work towards a change of attitudes, enabling the construction of a supportive conscience.
• Analyse how we may structure the culture and art of each participant to support the project and the corresponding awareness actions.
• Analyse the migratory flows as to and from processes.
• How to promote working as a network.
