Presentación del recetario "Africa en los fogones: conoce Africa a través de su gastronomía"
This recipe book is another result of the campaign Africa in the kitchen (download PDF), developed by the NGO Habitáfrica and supported from its start by Casa África among others. Through it, awareness and training activities have taken place during the whole of 2011, and African cooks that have taken part in it now offer us this recipe book with the necessary instructions to put African flavours onto our plates.
The Africa in the kitchen campaign started in April and had its official presentation at Casa África. Now we want to present this recipe book with all those typical recipes of the cooks' countries of origin and this will be undertaken at Casa África as it was here the campaign began. The ceremony for the presentation of this recipe book will take place in Casa África's central patio (C/ Alfonso XIII, 5. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) on the 20th December at 18:00h and there is a tasting scheduled of some of these dishes prepared by African cooks for this occasion. Entry is free but requires previous registration for capacity reasons, which is why an email must be sent to dreas@casafrica.es.
A show cooking is also planned, where the Moroccan cook will prepare a slilo, a type of nougat that is very typical at traditional parties and which is made from almonds, anisette, cinnamon, roasted wheat flour and walnuts.
We will also be shown how to make a bissap, the most popular beverage in West Africa.
