III Muestra de Cine Casa África

This Third Casa África Film Festivalaims to promote and strengthen the public’s knowledge of contemporary African works, not only in terms of aesthetics and content, but also in its analytical dimension, in order to make audiences aware of the cultural diversity of the African continent. We aim to break any simplification or stereotype about Africa which might still be in place in our collective imagination, in order to understand the role of the seventh art and of African audio-visual productions both in Africa today and in the globalized world in which we live.

This year the Festival, which will continue to be free and open to all, will be held at two venues in the capital of Gran Canaria:

  • On 11 and 12 November at the Elder Museum of Science and Technology, in the framework of WOMAD Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
  • From 13 to 17 November at the Casa de Colón

The main objective of this project is to further strengthen film as an educational tool which can raise awareness about relevant social issues in Africa and in Spain. Therefore, new to this year’s Film Festival there’s an educational section which will take place each morning and offer educational sessions for schools through screenings of appropriate films and lively discussions focused on the values of cultural diversity, cooperation and solidarity.

If you like Africa and you like film, don’t miss this opportunity to discover and analyze the latest films made in Africa.
