The research group Afrilenguas, of the Department of Iberian and Latin American Studies (DEILA) of the Félix Houphouët Boigny University (FHB) of Cocody-Abidjan (Ivory Coast), in collaboration with the research group Tradhuc (Afriqana) of the University of Valladolid (Spain), invites all researchers working in the areas of linguistics, literature, civilization and translation to participate in the Second International Hispano-African Colloquium of Linguistics, Literature, Civilization and Translation which will take place in the FHB University of Cocody-Abidjan from 6-8 March 2019.
The main objective of the colloquium is the promotion and dissemination of knowledge about African linguistics, literature and civilization, as well as its translation into other languages. The colloquium aims, in particular, to give visibility to African languages and the situation of the teaching of Spanish in Africa; to encourage the dissemination in Spanish of research on African languages, literatures and civilizations; to open African languages and literatures to the Hispanic world; as well as their description and translation into Spanish.
The colloquium also aims to create a meeting place and encourage contact between researchers interested in African linguistics, literature and civilization, and to create a specific research journal.
The tagline of this second colloquium is “Pan-hispano-africanism: present realities, future challenges”.
In the context of the Congress, which is being held for the second time in Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Ángeles Jurado, a member of the Casa África team, will give a workshop on the reading club as a tool for creating culture and community.
