Cinenómada en el XII Festival de Cine de Lanzarote
African films will be present at this annual event on the island of Lanzarote with the Seventh Art, doing so through Cinenómada, a project for distributing African films that is sponsored by Casa África and managed by Al-Tarab, the organiser of the Tarifa African Film Festival, and which makes its film collection available to associations and institutions that request it.
Casa África sponsors Cinenómada because it has the same objective as Al-Tarab of making African cinema visible to as many Spanish audiences as possible and of brining Africa closer to Spain.
Cinenómada makes available to various entities a large selection of films from past editions of the FCAT, subtitled in Spanish, which is to date the only offering of this dimension and genre that exists in Spain and that guarantees African producers an income, which although modest, is often the only one they receive.
It targets associations, municipalities, regional governments, universities, cultural centres, film libraries, museums and any type of organisation or institution that is interested in promoting African cinema. Cinenómada distributes films throughout the year that would otherwise remain only in specialised festivals.
African films will once again be present at this 7th art annual event on the island of Lanzarote and will do so through Cinenómada, an African film dissemination project sponsored by Casa África and run by Al-Tarab, organiser of the African Film Festival of Córdoba (FCAT) which makes its film collection available to associations and institutions that request it.
The organisers of the Film Festival of Lanzarote, aware that the film industry is immersed in a complex reconversion process, as Internet now offers pay per view new releases, recovers old films and screens short films, has made an effort to create an extensive menu of films that all film fans in Lanzarote can enjoy.
Residents in Lanzarote and visitors whose interest make this Festival, one of the pioneers in the Canary Islands, so important are those that make this film festival possible. In the words of the organisers: "Films to understand, to answer questions and generate others. Films to find ourselves, loose ourselves and find ourselves again. To dream and to put our feet on the ground. Films to look better and see ourselves better."
As part of this Festival, which will fill the island with films from the 9th to the 20th April 2012, we hold the African Film Exhibition, where Cinenómada provides different films. It will take place on Saturday 14th April at 18.00 horas at theTeatro Insular de Lanzarote, with the planned screenings being:
