Samira Said has become much more than a notable figure in the music industry. She rose quickly to the first rank of Arabic song and has remained there for a generation. Each new album reinforces her position. Samira Said made her first big stage at the Eurovision song contest 1980 in the Netherlands and represented the Morocco is the only Arab country to have participated so far. In her early years, she was strongly influenced by Baligh Hamdi, Abdelwahab, Mohamed El Mougi, Sayed Mekaouni, and Faiza Ahmad and her husband Mohamed Soltan.
