Samira Said has become much more than a notable figure in the music industry. She rose quickly to the first rank of Arabic song and has remained there for a generation. Each new album reinforces her position. Samira Said made her first big stage at the Eurovision song contest 1980 in the Netherlands and represented the Morocco is the only Arab country to have participated so far. In her early years, she was strongly influenced by Baligh Hamdi, Abdelwahab, Mohamed El Mougi, Sayed Mekaouni, and Faiza Ahmad and her husband Mohamed Soltan. These experiences led Samira to Cairo where she established herself as preeminent in Arabic music. Demand for her music is as great now as ever. In 2006, she again struck gold with "Kolena Enssan," a new song for Africa of the Nations which she sings in French, English, and Arabic. "Kolena Enssan" debuted at the opening of the C.A.N. in Cairo in the summer of 2006, and her performance at Casablanca on July 21-22 won her the accolade, Queen of Casablanca.
