XVIª Jornada de la AS.P.U.R.
ASPUR is the Association of Retired University Professors - and they’re very clear that they may be retired but that doesn’t mean that they’ve stopped teaching, learning and experiencing life. They continue to form part of today’s society, a society that needs their wisdom and experience because they continue to be active, because these are still their times. That is why they organise the annual ASPUR conference which is celebrating its 16th year in May 2019 and is being held in collaboration with the University of La Laguna.
José Segura, current director general of Casa África, has been, among many other things, a university professor. In this capacity he has been invited to participate in these presentations that will take place from 6 to 11 May between the islands of Tenerife and La Gomera.
José Segura’s presentation will take place on Thursday 9 May at 11:00am and will discuss the African continent, the opportunities it holds and the role of the Canary Islands in Africa’s necessary and inevitable alliance with the European Union.
This presentation takes place as part of a series of seminars that are just some the activities that the ASPUR carries out throughout the year in its aim to disseminate and update its members’ knowledge. Its other aims are:
- Increasing members’ well-being.
- Promoting social activities.
- Promoting and participating in cultural events.
- Celebrating coexistence with universities and cultural centres.
- Organising cultural and leisure trips.
- Co-operating with educational bodies and other cultural and social associations.
