VII Encuentro de Biblioteconomía y Documentación: Conservación e innovación
Casa África holds its 7th Library and Documentation Meeting, this time under the title Eternal Culture: conservation and innovation, in a meeting that will take place on 11th December around the tables that make up the conference and that will address two fundamental aspects for professionals of information and the documentation.
The first table is focused on preserving documentary heritage, analysing the new possibilities that technological advances offer us to preserve the common memory through the digitisation of the resources.
In this table we shall also get to know about the problems of these processes in the Ivory Coast, through the participation of Roukiatou Ba, director of the Fundación Amadou Hampatã Bâ and daughter of this great philosopher, anthropologist, writer, historian, considered one of the wise and most influential men of Africa of the twentieth century, whose legacy is stored in the foundation that bears his name.
In the second table we shall discuss Big Data and libraries 3.0, of the role that should be played by the professionals of documentation and information and how and why they must be involved in this info-technological revolution, delving in the innovation applied to the management and dissemination of knowledge.
The aim of these meetings is to exchange ideas, expand knowledge, discuss and reflect on the challenges and opportunities of the digital society in the field of libraries and documentation centres to:
- Preserve the legacy of historical information for future generations
- Identify and transform the information needs of users in tools and strategies to generate knowledge
- Successfully respond to technological developments
- Encourage cooperation and establish a greater collaboration on the Internet among professionals of the Spanish and African documentation
