Turismo. Los viajeros del Siglo XXI
Tourism is the primary economic activity in Spain. It is the engine of the national economy and is of strategic importance as a buffer factor in the external accounts of our economy, which compensates the current account deficit, which is a structural feature of the Spanish economy.
Any professional or person interested in the foreign service must know the milestones, figures and mechanisms of tourism and it is an essential element to sell or explain the country's reality.
The importance of tourism is underlined by the fact that the World Tourism Organization (WTO) is the only agency of the UN system which is based in Spain. Our country has been a member of the WTO since its foundation in 1975 by housing the organisation's headquarters it occupies a permanent seat on the Executive Council.
Therefore, the Diplomatic School organises this educational conference that will focus on certain aspects of tourism. The speakers will represent various bodies that will highlight different facets of this phenomenon. Using the Davos format, each panellist will make a presentation, followed by a debate and discussion open to the public. Casa África's general director, Luis Padrón, will moderate one of the panels of this conference.
The conference will take place on Tuesday, 2nd December 2014 from 10a.m. to 3p.m. at the headquarters of the Diplomatic School (Paseo Juan XXIII, 5. Madrid. Bus: Circular Metro: Metropolitano station. Line 6).
