Seminario técnico. 'El sector de las microfinanzas en Senegal y la Cooperación Española: situación y perspectivas en el contexto de la crisis'
Casa África intends to support development of the micro business fabric in Senegal favouring personal communication among microfinancing entities, potential FCM borrowers and the AECID through these technical conferences that have the specific objective of contributing towards the consolidation of Spanish cooperation in Senegal's microfinance sector as a tool in the fight against poverty.
Small and mid-sized companies (including micro companies) comprise 90% of Senegal’s business fabric. Senegal’s microfinance sector is experiencing strong growth, but there is disequilibrium between regions as well as within them and it requires a bigger injection of funds to become an effective tool in the fight against poverty and for achieving the MDG in 2015.
Spanish cooperation, through the Microcredit Fund for Basic Social Development Projects Abroad (FCM) has conducted a diagnosis of the sector in Senegal and has drawn up a proposal for action.
The expected results from these conferences are:
- Contribute towards strengthening and consolidating an offer of entities that intermediate in Senegal with the diversified, sustainable, profitable and professionalized micro company, which incorporate good practices and ensure access by micro business owners, especially those in the country’s least served regions, to financial services adapted to their needs.
- Facilitate the AECID’s FCM action in the country.
The activity is divided into two parts: an internal workshop from 9:30am to 5:30pm and a round table open to the public from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
