Seminario: Evolución y conservación vegetal en el ámbito de la Macaronesia
The Nature Classroom of the Vicerectorship of Culture and Sports at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), with the collaboration of the Faculty of Geography and History, the Geography Department of the ULPGC and Casa África, has organised this seminar on the Plant Evolution and Conservation in the region of Macaronesia. It will take place on Friday, November 19th, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Casa África headquarters.
The scheduled conferences include:
- 5:00 pm 'Dispersion, genetic flow and plant conservation,' by Dr. Juan José Robledo Arnuncio, a researcher at the Centre for Forest Research of the INIA (National Institute of Agricultural and Food Research and Technology) and an international expert on the genetic flow models of plant species.
- 18:10 pm 'Macaronesia: an obligate custom office for Atlantic bryophyte species in transit from and towards Europe,' by Dr. Alain Vanderpoorten, a researcher associated to Belgium´s Scientific Research Funds at the University of Liege´s Botanical Institute.
Heather Adams, a professor of the ULPGC, will provide the simultaneous interpretation.
Afterwards, there will be a debate in which, aside from the participants who may be interested, other researches from the ULPGC and the University of La Laguna (ULL) will participate.
