Salón Internacional del Libro Africano: SILA 2013
The SILA fair, will be held from 14th to 19th September and Casa África will once again be its venue, it is the central act of the 2013 edition of SILA, which with Cape Verde as guest country, has since the 5th June been developing a comprehensive programme of forged activities with the conviction that SILA should be an opportunity to hear African voices and words that tell us about Africa.
This 2013 edition of SILA brings us closer to Cape Verde, whose literature is the result of the mixture of the passage of time and people from different worlds. Through the pages that have been written, we look at some islands full of mixed breeding, women and men who use words as a tool and come to tell the secrets of their craft and the keys to their messages.
The island culture shared between the Canary Islands and Cape Verde, the sea and the sky that no one has been able to borders on, unite us and make us complicit in their lyrics. Let's hope this SILA 2013 will for a few days also write a story of hope where each line will whisper that another world is possible. Let's hope that in this new encounter the word will become a slogan of freedom, in a fire that forges diverse and shared cultural heritage.
SILA 2013 is an invitation to all people who want to share an intercultural reading, an exchange and thousands of questions which write, narrate and feel things beyond our shores. An invitation to make a culture a common, free and shared asset that will tour our islands so that the voice of Cape Verde will be heard in all of them.
Throughout the duration of the Fair, from 14th to 19th September, there will be an exhibition of African-themed books and library area in Casa África, which can be visited from 10:30 to 14:00 and 16:30 to 18 30.
There will also be conferences, round tables, book presentations, sessions and cultural visits following a full programme
