Ronda. Festival internacional de cine.

Ronda will celebrate the first edition of its international film festival, in which Casa África will participate with the presentation of the book titled Cinematografías de África. Un encuentro con sus protagonistas (African Cinema. A Meeting with the Protagonists), by Guadalupe Arensburg and edited by this institution in 2010. This is a book of reference for the study and knowledge of African cinema. It offers a vision about the protagonists of African cinema by analysing its films and the moment in history that they were created in order to provide the reader with a panorama of these films, from the beginning of the independences until today. The book contents will be accompanied by a DVD with a 59-minute documentary produced by Gabriel Rosenthal that includes interviews of the directors and previews of their films.

This book will be presented by its author as part of the Ronda International Festival, Political Cinema for the 21st Century, which has been created with the hope of taking a closer look at cinema and politics, of targeting primarily a young audience that more easily handles the new traditions, codes and references that are marking the true change of century in terms of citizen commitment and language.
