Retratar un clima. Residencia de creación de la fotógrafa Elise Fitte Duval
The photographer Elise Fitte-Duval, born in Martinique and living in Senegal since 2001, Casa África prize-winner in the 2011 edition of the Bamako Photography Biennial, will be in Madrid from 22nd November to 11th December 2014 for a creation residency.
After intensive work during citizen mobilizations in Senegal, she now comes to Madrid to portray what happens in this city after the outbreak of 15M, the movement of the Tides and preparation of municipal elections by citizen platforms for May 2015. Claims, activism, mobilization, various actions that are expressed in the city of Madrid but also have their resonance in other parts of the world.
As part of this residency, Sandra Maunac of Masasam and Susana Moliner of The Companyia have designed two activitiesthat will be carried out with Casa África's support and the Cruce space, which hosts both activities.
The first event will take place on Tuesday, 2nd December at 7 p.m. It is an open table in which, under the title "Creation and political commitment,” Elise Fitte-Duval and other artists will be invited to share and exchange experiences on their artistic practice as a political tool.
The second event will take place on Tuesday, 9th December at 7 p.m. and will involve the presentation of work in Elise Fitte-Duval's residency and its outcome. For this presentation, Sandra Maunac of Masasam will talk to us about the exhibition "Dakar. Cuerpo a Cuerpo" presented at Casa África's headquarters in May 2014 and that includes a selection of Elise's work
