Presentación del libro 'El Nilo azul. Testimonio de un mundo olvidado'
Casa África, in collaboration with Casa Árabe, will present the publication in Madrid of El Nilo azul. Testimonio de un mundo olvidado, by Javier Gonzálbez.
The presentation of this work will take place on Thursday 7th June 2012 at Casa Árabe's Assembly Hall (Calle Alcalá, 62. Madrid) at 19:30h and will be attended by Carmen de la Peña, the Spanish Ambassador in Qatar; Eduardo López, Casa Árabe's General Director and Javier Gonzálbez, the work's author.
It was seven years ago that Javier Gonzálbez focused his enquiries on the blue Nile, travelling and following its course through Ethiopia and Sudan, which allowed him to submerge himself into the cultures that dot its banks and watch, learn, think, feel and experience the natural and human heritage that should be considered universal.
The blue Nile contributes more that half the volume of the Nile, which flows into the Mediterranean. However it hardly extends beyond its basin, its people, its meanderings. Javier Gonzálbez undertook the challenge of discovering what is beneath this silence, and in the traditional way of the old explorers, he went to see its source in Ethiopia. Then he followed the line that marked the river's course until it reached Khartoum, where the blue Nile meets with its brother the White Nile.
