Presentación del informe Review of Maritime Transport
The Review of Maritime Transport is a flagship report by UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development). It has been published annually since 1968 in order to increase the transparency of maritime markets and analyse relevant events. It offers an analysis of structural and cyclical changes affecting maritime trade, ports and goods, as well as extensive statistical information.
The importance of this report, which presents key events in the world economy, is that more than 80% of global trade is transported by ship and is handled in ports around the world, so maritime transport is extremely important for development. Recognising the strategic role of the sector, the global policy framework of the Addis Ababa Action Agenda and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development highlight the role of trade as a driver for global sustainable growth and development.
Therefore, Casa África has organised the public presentation of this report on Friday 9 March 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at the headquarters of the CEOE (C/ Diego de León, 50, Madrid). Prior registration is required through Carolina Ortiz: cortiz@ceoe.es 915 663 448

The CEOE (Spanish Confederation of Employers’ Organisations) represents and serves the needs of Spanish companies, promoting an environment which facilitates business activity and contributes to growth and social welfare. It also provides companies with a united voice to address the Government, State bodies, union organisations, political parties and international institutions on economic and social issues. CEOE brings together more than one and a half million companies and freelancers on a voluntary basis, through grassroots associations that make up a network of 240 sectoral and territorial organisations.
The report will be presented by Jan Hoffmann (head of the Commercial Logistics Section, Technology and Logistics Division of UNCTAD) who will be accompanied by Francisco Aguilera (Deputy Director General of Multilateral Economic Relations and Air, Maritime and Terrestrial Cooperation), Luis Padrón (Director General of Casa África) and representatives from the CEOE and the Puertos del Estado (the government agency responsible for implementing the government’s port policy).
Dr Jan Hoffmann has been working as a specialist in trade facilitation, ports and shipping in the Commercial Logistics Branch of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development in Geneva since 2003.
The presentation of this report is part of Casa África’s programme “Presentation of key international economic reports”, which aims to raise awareness of the current status of African economies and the opportunities they offer.
