Participación de Casa África en la I Feria del Libro de la Vega de San Mateo
The 4th Literature Week will take place from the 11th to the 17th of April at Vega de San Mateo (Gran Canaria), which will be accompanied for the first time by the 1st Book Fair which will display a large number of publications and also include workshops and activities in parallel to the fair.
Casa África will be present at this fair through the Librería Canaima´s booth, and so visiting audiences may discover new titles from the Casa África collections about Literature, Essays and History and Politics.
The first book fair includes exhibits from editorials, museums and books stores from all over the island that attempt to offer, in a limited space, the literary novelties that are produced or sold. The aim is to combine, during the weekend of the 16th and 17th of April, a multitude of cultural and leisure activities with the fair´s activities in order to create an attractive setting to promote reading in society.
A total of 21 booths will participate, including book stores, editorials and institutions with an editorial line. The fair hours are from 10:00 to 19:00 on Saturday and from 10:00 to 15:00 on Sunday.
This activity is part of the 2011 edition of África Vive, a Casa África initiative that has been created to celebrate Africa Day on May 25th, and to use this celebration as an excuse to understand each other better, to bring African and Spanish people together in a fun and participative context.
With África Vive, Casa África aims to improve knowledge about the neighboring continent in our country through a complete programme of activities that will take place between April and July and that include cultural, political, economic, social and sports events. These activities will also include literature, which is why Casa Africa’s collections will be present at the book fairs of Barcelona, Seville, Madrid, Maputo, and the one in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria from April 29th through May 8th.
