Letras Africanas en Periplo 2017, el Festival Internacional de literatura de viajes y aventuras
Periplois the International Festival of Travel and Adventure Literature which has been held in Puerto de la Cruz since 2013. This is a pioneering project in Spain, focussing on literary tales of travel and adventure. A structure which incorporates all formats capable of collecting and communicating the transformative experience of travel.
Antonio Lozano, Nicolás Castellano and Pepe Naranjo are some of the authors already confirmed for this year’s Periplo, which will take place from 23 to 29 October 2017 in Tenerife.
Through its African Letters programme, Casa África is collaborating with the Periplo festival once again this year, enabling the participation of Togolese writer and sociologist Sami Tchak, a specialist in gender and sexuality in Africa. It will be on Tuesday, 24 October at 8:15 p.m. in the Puerto de la Cruz Archaeological Museum.
This author will also be supporting Periplo Education, in a meeting with secondary school students from all over the island on 25 October at 10:00 a.m. and previously in the framework of the 30th Festival of the South - Three Continents Theatrical Meeting.
Going beyond the annual presentation of a catalogue of new developments in the travel literature sector of publishing or of a number of current authors, Periplo aims to take a leading role in this literary form, spreading the knowledge and global vanguards of the discipline. Therefore, the festival includes the genre’s production and manifestation in other artistic languages, including cinema, theatre and music.
