Lasgidi International Dance Festival

Casa África and its programme Africa in Movement continue supporting African contemporary dance through different activities such as choreographic residencies of dancers and choreographers to collaborate in the development of their creations or supporting festivals like this in Lagos, Nigeria, Lasgidi International Dance Festival.

This Festival was founded in Lagos in 2001. This is the first contemporary dance festival in Nigeria and aims to preserve and show what the current and actual  dancing is like in this country, also providing experiences from other African countries and the rest of the world, always looking for cultural and intellectual exchange through dance performances, meetings and workshops.

This time Casa África's supports the presence at this international meeting of Aïda Colmenero, actress, model, performer, choreographer, producer and professor awarded by the Ministry of Culture of Spain and the AECID (Spanish Agency for Cooperation and Development).

Working between Africa and Spain since 2009, Aïda has developed her educational project "Africa in Dance - Training Programme", carrying out training courses in Morocco, Senegal, Nigeria, Cape Verde, Ghana, Tanzania, Guinea Conakry, Madagascar and Gabon for dancers , actors, children, circus people and women of special groups.

After much work and pieces created for different events and festivals, Aïda is currently touring with Project Km 0 "Prelude", which is the only dance that Aïda will present at the Lasgidi Festival, in addition to screening a dance video, she will teach two contemporary art masterclasses and publicise the Acogny technique as the only Spaniard titled in this speciality, obtained from the Ecole Des Sables in Senegal and for whose international expansion she has created the project Lanla with the Dutch woman Ise Verstegen.
