Jornada "La ciudad africana, espacio para el desarrollo"
As part of the joint activities between the Cabildo of Tenerife and Casa África, and with the collaboration of the College of Architects of the Canary Islands, this conference will be held and will be in line with those already held in Madrid and Gran Canaria.
Africa is the least urbanised region on earth, with an urban population of 38%, but with a faster urban growth rhythm (4.5%). Current studies show that the African urban population will double in the next twenty years, as a result of the rural-urban migration, natural demographic growth and the re-classification of peri-urban areas into urban areas.
A conference is held to discuss all of this on Thursday 13th November 2014 at 7 p.m. at the Official College of Architects of the Canary Islands (Plaza Arquitecto Alberto Sartoris, 1. Santa Cruz de Tenerife) and will consist of three main events:
- Presentation of the 5th Casa África Essay Prize "One way to address the African city"
- Round table discussion on urban development in Africa
- Opening of the exhibition "Modernity ignored. Modern architecture of Luanda
