IV Encuentro Internacional de Universidades con África

The 4th International Meeting of Universities with Africa (4th IMUA) will be held from 24th to 26th March2014 in Agadir, Morocco, organised jointly by the Ibn Zohr University of Agadir and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Its aim is to strengthen the efforts between the Spanish and African universities and encourage reflection on new forms of cooperation.

It hopes to strengthen the role and commitment of universities to generate spaces of confluence between knowledge, research and technology that respond to the requirements and needs of society, facilitating their evolution towards sustainable human development and towards greater social justice in Africa . Its aim after all is to continue the work of previous editions held in Madrid (October 2007) Maputo (October 2008) and the third meeting, held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in October 2010.

As in previous editions, Casa África once again provides support and advice to this meeting, with its main objective being to ensure broad participation of African universities.

This fourth meeting will be carried out in two distinct blocks so as to establish synergies and exchange of experiences and good practices between universities and research experts:

on one hand, general aspects regarding University Cooperation in Africa will be addressed during the Plenary Sessions
and secondly, the Working Groups will allow specific themes for the Development of Cooperation (Health, Energy, Water, Education, Economics, etc.) to be dealt with in-depth.
