I Jornadas sobre Cooperación y Desarrollo

The Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País de Gran Canaria (Royal Economic Society for Friends of the Country of Gran Canaria) (RSEAPGC), founded in 1776, aims to promote the progress of public education, promotion of the wealth on the island of Gran Canaria, the preservation of its environment and the greater moral and material welfare of its inhabitants. In order to develop these principles, the RSEAPGC devotes its efforts in promoting many different activities, which have been many and very varied in the more than 225 years of history and it is in 2015 when the 1st Conference on Development and Cooperation is held.

These conferences, along with specialist workers from various public or private areas, seek to confront criteria on the content that is presented today for these two concepts, its topicality and relevance, as well as its validity in the Canary Islands and its applicability to areas as prominent and necessary as health, culture and education.

Casa África's manager, José Luis Marquez, will participate in these conferences, which will take place on 27th, 28th and 29th October 2015 , always starting at 7.00 p.m. , at the RSEAPGC headquarters, located in the No. 1 of the Square with its name in the Vegueta district of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The panels will be distributed as follows:

  • Tuesday 27th October: What do we mean today by cooperation and development? Is there Canary Islands cooperation or not? Where are we steering it to?
  • Wednesday 28th October Cooperation and development in the health sector
  • Thursday 29th October: Education and culture for development.

The RSEAPGC frames these days within the whole of the reactivation of its activity, which it has been carrying since the early years of the 21st century, which has involved among other things, the opening of a library for researchers and scholars and the annual holding of monographic workshops on current topics such as ecology, immigration from an economic point of view, Spanish nationalism, sustainable development, etc.
