El Club de Lectura de Casa África lee "Los tambores de la memoria"
Casa África continues with its Reading Club sessions, with which it hopes to continue bringing African literature closer to everyone that wants to take part.
The works are discussed and led by Ángeles Jurado, journalist and technician from Casa África's Media Communication Area. Typically meetings are held at Casa África's headquarters on the last Thursday of each month, but given the proximity of the Christmas holidays, this time the members of the Club have brought forward their meeting which will be held outside Casa Africa to not only enjoy reading but for a semi-festive meeting in which to toast the new year.
This time the meeting will take place on Thursday, 12th December 2013 at 7:00 p.m. and will discuss the book Los tambores de la memoria belonging to Casa Africa's Literature Collection.
In this work, Boubacar Boris Diop brings us the magic of Queen Johanna Simentho from the kingdom of Wissombo. it does not matter if she is fiction or reality, but she brings the breath of independence, freedom and dignity. Fadel, the son of the millionaire, believes and would leave everything to serve her. His brother Badou, a revolutionary, hums the song Johanna with no excitement. For Ismaila, a young bureaucrat, and Ndella his wife, the mysterious disappearance of Fadel will also drag them into the wake of Queen Johanna, the focal point of the story. For all, the echo of the drums will sound dragged by the wind of History.
Those interested in taking part in Casa África's Reading Club should send an email to cultura@casafrica.es as places are limited. Once you have received confirmation to be a member of the Reading Club, you will be able to take away a copy of the work together with the guidelines for its reading.
