Descubre Gambia como destino turístico

Discover Gambia as a tourist destination

Are you passionate about travelling and discovering new destinations, looking for a unique and authentic experience outside the usual tourist destinations? Then this talk is for you!

We invite you to a special event where we will explore the wonders of The Gambia, a country small in size, but big in cultural, historical and natural richness. Known as ‘The Smile of Africa’, The Gambia offers a variety of unrivalled experiences ranging from paradise beaches to vibrant local markets and wildlife-filled nature reserves.

Situated on the west coast of Africa, The Gambia is the smallest country on the African continent. Its entire territory is bordered by the Gambia River, which divides the country into northern and southern parts. It is a flat country with a maximum altitude of 300 metres and less than 50 kilometres wide. More than 10 per cent of the country is covered by water. The capital is Banjul, while the most populous city is Serekunda. The official language is English, although Mandinka, Wolof and Jola are also spoken. It gained independence from the UK in February 1965. 75% of the population is dependent on agriculture, which provides 20% of the country's GDP. There is still a great deal of untapped potential as less than half of the arable land is currently utilised. There is also a small-scale manufacturing sector with processing of groundnuts, fish and leather.

These are just a few small glimpses of this great little country, but, taking advantage of the visit of a Gambian delegation to Gran Canaria, led by the Ambassador of the Republic of The Gambia in Spain, Mr. Noah Touray, Mr. Baboucarr Camara, Director of Communication of GIEPA (Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency) will give us this talk to learn more about his country and invite you to come and meet him.

The talk will take place on Monday 10th June 2024, in our auditorium, from 17:30 to 18:30 and, as always, the entrance is free of charge. The talk will be in English, but simultaneous interpretation will be provided.

During the talk we will cover topics such as:

Introduction to The Gambia: History, culture and traditions.
Main Tourist Attractions: Beaches, national parks and nature reserves.
Cultural Experiences: Markets, festivals and local life.
Adventures and Activities: Excursions, water sports and safaris.
Practical Tips for Travellers: Safety, transport and accommodation recommendations.

Why attend?

To discover an emerging and fascinating tourist destination.
To get insider information and useful tips for your next trip.
To connect with other travel enthusiasts and share experiences.
To participate in a Q&A session at the end of the talk.

Don't miss this opportunity to discover The Gambia and plan your next adventure! We look forward to exploring this incredibly beautiful and hospitable destination together.

We look forward to seeing you here.
