Diario de un espigador del cine
From the February 9-12, the Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo (Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation) hosts the film showings that make up the festival Diario de un espigador del cine (Diary of a Film Gleaner), which includes the collaboration of Casa Africa, the Cinenómada programme of the Tarifa African Film Festival, and funding from the Autonomous Government of Andalusia.
This film festival falls within the Martes de cine (Tuesday Cinema) weekly sessions that have been organised by the Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo at its Seville headquarters (Pabellón Hassan II, C/. Max Planck, 2, Isla de la Cartuja), and will be attended by directors, actors, producers, distributors and film critics.
With the collaboration of Casa Africa and the Cinenomada programme (FCAT), the following films will be shown:
- Behind the Rainbow: This film analyses the journey of the African National Congress (ANC), from the liberation movement to the ruling party in South Africa, through the evolution of the relationship between two of its most prominent leaders, Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma. Exiled under the apartheid regime, brothers in arms under the leadership of Mandela, they loyally worked to build a nation without racism. Now they are rivals. Their duel threatens to tear apart the ANC and the country, as the poor search for hope in change, and the elite fight for the spoils of victory.
- J'ai tant aimé / I Loved So Much: The documentary describes the life of a Moroccan woman hired as a prostitute in a field brothel of the French colonial army, and who participated in the Indo-China War. More than 70 years of age, Fadma says that she agreed to make the documentary so that France will recognise her as it recognises war veterans: "I also participated in the war."
