Cine africano en el WOMAD de Cáceres
Once again, África Vive will join the Cáceres Womad with a wide array of top African artists and an African film season by the hand of Cinenómada, a programme that is sponsored by Casa África and managed by Al Tarab, which organises the Tarifa African Film Festival.
In the specific case of Cáceres, África Vive will be present with the African film season, providing showings between the 10th and 13th of May at the Extremadura Film Library, and also with music by once again joining WOMAD and contributing the African portion to the festival.
Casa África sponsors Cinenómada because it has the same objective as Al-Tarab of making African cinema visible to as many Spanish audiences as possible and of brining Africa closer to Spain.
Cinenómada makes available to various entities a large selection of films from past editions of the FCAT, subtitled in Spanish, which is to date the only offering of this dimension and genre that exists in Spain and that guarantees African producers an income, which although modest, is often the only one they receive.
It targets associations, municipalities, regional governments, universities, cultural centres, film libraries, museums and any type of organisation or institution that is interested in promoting African cinema. Cinenómada distributes films throughout the year that would otherwise remain only in specialised festivals.
The proposed schedule for the film season is as follows:
- Tuesday the 10th, 20:30: Imani, by Caroline Kamya (Uganda-Sweden)
- Wednesday the 11th, 20:30: Dowaha, by Raja Amari (Tunisia/Sweden/France)
- Thursday the 12th, 20:30: Kontinuasom, by Oscar Martínez (Spain)
There will also be morning sessions aimed at schools (between the ages of 10 and 14) which will be announced by the WOMAD organisation:
- Tuesday the 12th, 11:00: Luanda, a fábrica da musica, by Kiluanje Liberdade and Inês Gonçalves (Angola/ Portugal). View video
- Friday the 13th, 11:00: Soul Boy, by Hawa Essuman (Kenya). View video
