Ciclo audiovisual: África. Migración e identidad
The cycle, which will take place on 13th November at the Cinema Hall of ULPGC (University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), is made up of three documentaries by three young authors with the aim of bringing the phenomenon of emigration from Africa closer to the public, approaching the subject reflexively and giving voice to the migrants themselves, protagonists of these stories. The documentaries deal with issues as complex as uprooting, the search for identity or future alternatives now that Europe has been thrown into an economic crisis.
The broadcast of the documentaries will be followed by a discussion which will be attended by representatives of NGOs such as CEAR-Canarias or the Federation of African Associations in the Canary Islands, who experience this phenomenon close at hand and with whom its causes and consequences can be discussed.
This film series, which lasts about 80 minutes, consists of the following documentaries:
- EL PESO DE LA PAJA. A documentary which puts a mirror before Western people: "What are our fears? What value do we give to words? How do we live time? Is there something sacred between us? "
- EL ESPECTÁCULO. Saharawi children who spend holidays with host families in Barcelona. An audiovisual experiment, an imperfect story mode with three characters: a Sahrawi friend in exile, a group of kids from the desert and a play.
- TANN SA YOON. This film talks about Senegalese migration through stories by Mathurin and Omar. A short tale that invites you to think about why, how and what will come of a process that is as particular as is universal: migration.
