Bookcrossing: campaña de liberación de libros
For the second year, the Casa África Media Library is participating in the Bookcrossing or Book Release campaign launched by the Vitoria-Gasteiz Artium Museum Library.
31 Spanish centres and museums will overflow cities with art books in light of International Book Day. They join a bookcrossing experience in which they will "release" more than 2,500 volumes related to various artistic disciplines.
Casa África, as part of its África Vive initiative, also participates in this free culture movement along with 31 Spanish museums and documentation centres, and it will release two dozen catalogues of the exhibits that have taken place in its headquarters during 2011. The release will take place on April 27th, in commemoration of Book Day, that the book store owners in the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria have set for the special day this year.
Participants plan to distribute more than 2,500 "released books" with the intent that whoever picks them up will enjoy reading them and release them again somewhere else in the world. All the released books will be accredited with their corresponding labels and contain the necessary instructions to facilitate reader participation in the campaign and they will be registered at the www.bookcrossing-spain.com website, where readers can indicate the place where they found each book and where they released it.
The attached photo gallery shows some of the places where we have "released" books.
