#ÁfricaSeMueve por los #derechos de las #mujeres
According to Ban KiMoon's words, we must invest in rural women to end poverty and hunger, to get rid of the discrimination that they are subject to in legislation and practice, ensuring that policies respond to their needs, providing them with access to resources and giving them a role to play in the adopting of decisions.
Women are usually excluded from areas where decisions relating to their territory, agriculture and development in general are taken, which means that their demands and interests are absent from discussions and final decisions.
This initiative emerges because of this and to celebrate International Women's Day, which hopes to discuss together how we move from Africa for the rights to food, the struggle against hunger, malnutrition and poverty and principally, the fundamental contribution of women to this.
The event #Africamoves will take place on the 5th March with two main events:
- At 5.30 p.m.: Social Film-Forum at the Assembly Hall of the Escuelas Pías at UNED. Calle Tribulete, 14 (Lavapiés - Madrid). A short documentary will be broadcast Djaja, mujeres que mueven África and will open the debate relating to women's rights.
- At 9.30 p.m.: #ÁfricaMoves Concert with the Nights at UNED in the Galileo Hall Galilei of Madrid (Calle de Galileo, 100)
- To take part in both events you must register beforehand
This meeting is aimed at university students, overseas voluntary workers (male and female technicians from the public administration, male and female experts and professionals of NGOs), or people who are interested in development and gender issues and Africa.
What more can I do?
A sum of small actions can result in a great change that will enable women in Western Africa to access their fundamental rights.
For this, the literacy project for women in the community of Nianguré, in the border area of Casamance (Senegal), can contribute to this change. If you wish to collaborate, click here
