#ÁfricaesNoticia: "25 años del genocidio de Ruanda"
To mark the 25th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide, Casa África is organising an event which will feature journalists who specialise in the region, such as Vicente Romero. The event will conclude with the screening of the film report “Flors Sirera: solidaridad inmortal” by the journalist José Alberto Hernández from Televisión Española (TVE) in the Canary Islands. This film report was recorded in memory of the aid worker Flors Sirera, one of the 9 Spaniards murdered during the genocide that took place in the African country between April and July 1994. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion about Flors in which some of her friends will participate.
The event #ÁfricaEsNoticia “25 years on from the Rwandan genocide” will begin with a presentation by TVE reporter Vicente Romero, a former international correspondent for the public television network who covered the Rwandan genocide for iconic programmes such as “En Portada”. Romero will participate in a panel discussion on the Rwandan genocide with his colleague José Alberto Hernández, creator of the film report that will be screened later. This panel will be moderated by Joan Tusell, head of Casa África’s Communications Department. After the screening of the piece on Flors Sirera, there will be a panel discussion in which several friends of the murdered aid worker will participate including Lidia Farray, Bernardo Rodríguez and Mercy Peña. Moderator José Alberto Hernández.
#AfricaEsNoticia is a series of talks on African current affairs by Spanish and African experts that invites us to debate, think and get ever closer to Africa. The title also refers to the section of the Casa África website which is updated daily with the main news about Africa.
