59ª reunión de la Comisión para África de la OMT
The director general of Casa África, Luis Padrón, will speak at the 59th meeting of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) Commission for Africa (CAF) to be held in the Ethiopian capital from 18 to 21 April.
Padrón will accompany the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the Government of Spain, Ildefonso Castro, and will use this opportunity to strengthen the role of this institution in relations with Africa.
The WTO and Casa África have been closely collaborating in African tourism for many years, especially at the annual Investour, the meeting that brings together tourism promoters from Spain with different African destinations to promote knowledge of the neighbouring continent as a holiday destination.
Tourism has proven to be a great generator of employment and Spain is a world power in this field so it has much to contribute in this area. Casa África wants to serve as a bridge to bring all that know-how to Africa.
Among the many issues to be addressed in this important meeting, which involves representatives of tourism from all countries, will be: creating sustainable employment, social inclusion, poverty reduction, energy efficiency, and climate change and environmental protection - as it should not be forgotten that 2017 is the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.
