Del 8 de octubre al 6 de noviembre de 2021 tuvo lugar la segunda edición de la Bienal Internacional de Escultura de Uagadugú (BISO) en Burkina Faso. Este evento es el único dedicado cien por cien a la escultura africana en todo el continente.

La bienal es una iniciativa privada creada por Nyaba Ouedraogo, fotógrafo, y Christophe Person, promotor de la escena cultural africana. El objetivo es dar visibilidad internacional a los escultores del continente y promocionar la creación de esculturas en África. La primera edición tuvo lugar en 2019 con 14 participantes y la segunda en 2021 con 16 artistas provenientes de distintos países africanos que trabajan materiales muy diferentes como la cerámica o el metal. Las obras de la BISO se encuentran en el Instituto francés de Uagadugú y la visita es gratuita.

 

 

Greenco

Greenco se fundó en 2015 en la provincia norteña de Ngozi en Burundi. Su misión es producir algunos de los mejores cafés verdes que este país tiene para ofrecer y convertirse en el exportador preferido de café de Burundi. Trabajan junto con más de 44.000 agricultores certificados cuyas familias dependen de su café para vivir. Con trabajo duro, un alto nivel de compromiso y mucha pasión, tienen un impacto directo en más de 240.000 personas en Burundi a través del café.

Valoran las relaciones y la confianza construidas con sus agricultores, por lo que se han  asociado con la Fundación Kahawatu en el programa "Alianza del Café de Burundi", que se cofinanza con la Agencia de Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo y otros actores privados. Junto con la Fundación Kahawatu, capacita a los agricultores en las mejores prácticas agrícolas para ayudar a convertirles en hombres y mujeres de negocios a través de programas de educación, crédito y ahorro y apoyo continuo.

Uno de los desafíos socioeconómicos que esta empresa intenta abordar es el desempleo juvenil, que supera el 50 % en las zonas rurales de Burundi. Brindan oportunidades laborales a jóvenes graduados y los capacitan dentro de los más altos estándares de ética laboral.

Sus principales clientes se encuentran en los países de Estados Unidos, Canadá, Países Bajos, Bélgica, Italia, Suiza, Dubái, Corea, Japón, Australia y Nueva Zelanda.
