La Organización para la Investigación en Ciencias Sociales en África Oriental y Meridional (OSSREA) es una organización regional de desarrollo de capacidades e investigación basada en membresía y apoyada por donantes, cuya misión es promover el diálogo y la interacción entre investigadores y responsables políticos en África Oriental y Meridional con miras a mejorar el impacto de la investigación en la formulación de políticas y la planificación del desarrollo. Su sede se encuentra en Addis Abeba, Etiopía. OSSREA no solo se dedica a la investigación interdisciplinaria, sino que también proporciona becas de investigación a académicos junior y senior de la región. También ofrece formación en Metodología de la Investigación.

Su visión consiste en seguir siendo un centro de excelencia para la creación y difusión del conocimiento de las ciencias sociales, así como vincular la investigación de las ciencias sociales con las políticas públicas y la práctica en África Oriental y Meridional y enriquecer una tradición de investigación africana que responda a los desafíos y oportunidades nacionales y regionales a través del desarrollo de capacidades y oportunidades para los académicos de ciencias sociales en África oriental y meridional.

Sus objetivos se basan en la mejora de la capacidad y el brindar oportunidades para que los académicos africanos realicen investigaciones en ciencias sociales y promuevan  la expansión de una tradición de investigación africana;  mejorar la visibilidad de OSSREA a través de la creación de redes y la difusión de sus resultados de investigación; facilitar el diálogo, la cooperación y la colaboración entre investigadores, académicos y formuladores de políticas en África y fortalecer la interfaz entre las políticas públicas y la investigación en ciencias sociales.

La Asociación de Economía de Etiopía (EEA) es una organización de investigación y afiliación independiente, sin ánimo de lucro, en Etiopía. Desde su creación en 1991, EEA se esfuerza por:

- Proporcionar a sus miembros una plataforma de red, aprendizaje experimental y acceso a información actual

- Llevar a cabo análisis basados en pruebas sobre la evolución de la realidad social, económica y medioambiental de Etiopía para informar a los responsables políticos, los profesionales, los inversores, los investigadores, los socios de desarrollo y el público en general
