Music from Sudan

This album has a strong East African feel and all tracks have a medium tempo (not a "bellydance" album as such) but could possibly be used if you or your group are looking to dance to something with a more African or Nubian flavour. The liner notes also describe what each song is about, and there are three Sudanese weddings songs here. Other songs tugged on my heartstrings with their beautifully sung lyrics of love, loss and longing for the woman, or the home country. Some of the tracks here use rhythms that are unique to Sudan and are not found anywhere else in the world. Even though I know nothing about Sudanese music, I found listening to this CD to be an enjoyable and educational experience. As with all ARC's music, this album has been beautifully recorded and produced.
