Yanira Santana Morales nació a poco más de 250 kilómetros de África, que es donde queda Arucas, en noviembre de 1979, y desde que coge tino entra en el colegio público de Visvique y luego en La Salle para rematar la secundaria en el instituto Domingo Rivero.
Nacida en Valencia en 1966, es licenciada en Derecho e ingresó en la Carrera Diplomática en 1991. Ha servido en las Embajadas de España en Bolivia, Colombia, Namibia, Paraguay, México, Ecuador y Cabo Verde.
Tchinda Andrade es la primera mujer trans reconocida en el archipiélago de Cabo Verde, el país africano más tolerante con las personas homosexuales y transexuales.
