VII Congreso Ibérico de Estudios Africanos
The Centre for African Studies of the ISCTE-IUL (Instituto Superior das Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa) and the Centre for African Studies of the Universidad de Porto (CEAUP) have organised--along with the support of Casa África and various Spanish universities represented in the Scientific Council--the 7th Iberian Conference on African Studies, which will take place in Lisbon from the 9th to the 11th of September.
The event will be held in the ISCTE-IUL´s facilities under the title of "50 years of African independences: present day challenges", and will count on more than 400 participants that include academic researchers, representatives of diplomatic NGO´s, as well as business people and journalists from various African and European nations.
The conference includes 42 panels on a variety of topics and a plenary session for each of the three days that the event will take place. The specialists who have been invited for the events to open and close the Conference are Dr. Aminata Traoré, former minister of Culture and Tourism of Mali and coordinator of the UNPD; Dr. Elisio Macamo, a sociologist from Mozambique who is currently a professor at the University of Basilea (Switzerland).
Special attention will be paid to building collaboration networks that create teams of interdisciplinary research groups.
