Talleres de danza y percusión
Casa África's courtyard will act as the classroom for all those who wish to come and take part in this African dance and percussion workshop which will be given by Afro-canary people and the Thioune brothers, who haved live in the Canary Islands for a few years and who have collaborated with Casa África on other occasions to bring a little of Senegal to the Canary Islands community.
Casa África therefore once again participates in the celebration of Africa Day, which takes place on the 25th May to commemorate the African Union's creation and through which different activities as part of this day (book presentations, cinema, sporting events, music, workshops, etc) will be undertaken.
The workshop is completely free and open to everyone. it will be held from 19:00 to 20:30h in Casa África's headquarters' central courtyard and will allow new and simple rhythms to be enjoyed such as the Woulaba, a dance with simple steps from the Socé ethnic area or the Bouguereubu, a traditional dance of the Djola and finishing off with the Sabar, the most popular dance in Senegal and all of this with live songs and percussion.
With a clear intercultural spirit, this event is a place for coexistence and mutual knowledge between Africans and the community from the Canary Islands, for all of those who have always been attracted culturally to the African continent and want to know more about its music, people, laughter and colour. This initiative is for all as suggested by Casa África to celebrate International Africa Day.
