Seminario técnico en materia de EERR y desalinización de aguas
The Tecnological Institute of the Canary Islands (ITC) and the Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in West Africa (ECREEE) last year signed a collaboration agreement in the field of renewable energy (EERR) and water technologies so that they could undertake joint actions aimed at improvements and innovations in these fields.
It is as a result of this agreement that this seminar comes about, and whose closing ceremony will take place at Casa África's headquarters. This will allow representatives from UNDP (United Nations Programme for Development ) and from ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States), an organisation that ECREEE is part of, to visit the island. The planned programme for this visit will allow them to get to see ITC's facilities, a pioneering institution in EERR and water desalinisation that has been exporting its know-how to different African countries for some time.
ECREEE has its headquarters in Cape Verde and is made up by a committee of 15 African states and has been set up thanks to the funding of Spanish and Austrian cooperation, as well as the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO).
ITC is the nearest member of all ECREEE's members due to its geographic proximity to West Africa, as well as having the experience in the area of renewable energy, which initiatives such as these require.
