Salón Internacional del Libro Africano: SILA 2010
As part of the 8th Editors Conference in the Canary Islands, the 2nd edition of the Salón Internacional del Libro Africano (SILA, International Conference on African Literature) will take place in Santa Cruz de Tenerife from the 22nd to the 26th of September of 2010, with the aim bringing African literature closer and fostering its promotion, both within the archipelago as well as beyond it.
The goal of the meeting is to bring together professionals with ties to the editing industry from several continents so they may work together to create an interesting and active work network for the entire sector.
Casa África supports this important literary conference by organising a series of activities within the programme, such as:
- The 23rd: Presentation of the book titled África debe unirse (Africa Must Unite) by Kwame Nkrumah, with which Casa África inaugurates its collection on history and politics. The presentation will be led by Mr. Fidelis W. Yao Ekar, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana in Spain.
- The 24th: A new edition of the Letras Africanas (African Letters) programme, for which the guest will be Achmat Dangor, one of South Africa´s most internationally known writers and whose work titled Trilogía de Z Town (Z Town Trilogy) inaugurated the Casa África Literature Collection.
- The 25th: Presentation of the book titled Cinematografías de África. Un encuentro con sus protagonistas (African Cinema. A Meeting with the Protagonists), edited by Casa África. The presentation will be led by the author, Guadalupe Arensburg.
