Presentación del libro "Géntu Ndaw", de Ángel Luis Aldai
In Wolof, the language spoken mainly in Senegal, Gambia and Mauritania, "Gentoo ndaw" means dreams of children, or childhood and that is the title that Ángel Luis Aldai chose for this new collection of photographs which, as the title of the book suggests, focus on the children of the neighbouring continent.
Senegal, Gambia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Ivory Coast, Ghana and Togo are the countries this photographer visited to capture smiles, open eyes and especially those that are semi-open of the most dreamy children of this fantastic continent where diversity and wealth never cease to amaze us.
This publication is now presented at Casa África coinciding with the fact that on the 20th November it was the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Convention on Rights of the Child, a treaty that outlines the rights of children and is the first international instrument to recognise girls and boys as social actors and as active holders of their own rights. Therefore, Casa África and the Photographer from the Canary Islands Ángel Luis Aldai with a large number of public and private institutions, have joined together to carry out this publication.
The publication, presented at Casa Africa on the 4th December 2014 at 7.30 p.m., includes texts and poems of the renowned writer from the Ivory Coast, Tanella Boni.
