Presentación del libro "El sueño liberal en África Subsahariana"
The GEA (African Studies Group), in coordination with the Central Library and Publisher Libros de la Catarata organised the presentation in Madrid and Barcelona of the work "The liberal dream in Sub-Saharan Africa", belonging to Casa África's Essay Collection.
This book, coordinated by Itziar Ruiz Gimenez and published as a joint publication by Casa África and Los Libros de la Catarata, raises the question of if building peace in Africa necessarily involves sending international missions..
The work is an introduction to debates and controversies relating to international sanctions, transitional justice, return of refugees, security reforms and disarmament, demobilization and reintegration of combatants to show, among other things, how the hegemonic vision (the liberal peace) portrays external actors as liberals and peacemakers compared to others, Africans (local or regional), as illiberal and in this way hiding multiple non-liberal practices displayed by international actors in the peace processes in the sub-Saharan continent.
The work will be presented in:
- Barcelona: Tuesday, 11th February at 7:00 p.m. at the bookshop La Central del Raval (C / Elisabets, 6. 08001 Barcelona) with the participation of:
