Presentación de "The Africa Investment Report 2016"

As part of its work to support the internationalization of Spanish companies, Casa África organises activities to disseminate news about the African economic situation. To inform Spanish society in general, and companies in particular, about the opportunities offered by African markets, Casa África organises presentations of studies, articles and reports published by international organisations and other bodies.

Such is the case of The Africa Investment Report 2016, a report jointly published by This is Africa and fDi Intelligence, two services of the Financial Times whose representatives are participating in this presentation, organised by Casa África, which will take place on 18 November at the headquarters of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Madrid (C/ Ribera de Loire, 12).

This report provides a detailed overview of topics such as macroeconomic trends, the major companies investing in Africa (either by capital or by number of projects) and the main investment sectors.

The Africa Investment Report 2016 provides interesting data on key indicators for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the African continent. The report includes data from Analyse Africa and fDi Markets.

The narrative of Africa as a continent experiencing growth contrasts with the situation of the global economy which has been affected by the economic crisis which began in 2009. Now, the key question among economists is how to turn the “boom” that the African economy has experienced over the past 10 years into a path for consolidated long-term growth.

Beyond the traditional dependence of the African economy on sectors such as energy, mining or the extraction of raw materials, foreign investors have established themselves in new market niches and represent a clear force of transformation for the continent's economy. And it is expected that the weight and importance of these foreign direct investments will have an even more important role in the coming years.

The Africa Investment Report 2016, identifies where these investments should be directed. To discuss all this, the presentation will be given by:

  • Adrienne Klasa, editor of This is Africa. She has a particular interest in the relationship between politics, business and international news in sub-Saharan Africa, where she has worked. Her articles have been published not only in the Financial Times but also in The Guardian, Forbes, Slate and Foreign Policy, among others.

Attendance is free, but for reasons of capacity confirmation is requested
