MUMES 2014: Festival de Músicas Mestizas y +

The Festival of Mixed Music and +, MUMES, in 2014 celebrates its eleventh edition and Africa returns to the limelight. True to the spirit of its creation in 2004, it continues programming cultural activities aimed at promoting tolerance among peoples through knowledge of different traditions. After the last cycle of African cinema, the festival culminates with a concert that also will present the MUMES Award.

In this eleventh edition, Casa África returns to collaborate with this important festival, member of the European Forum of World Music Festivals [EFWMF], providing the participation of The Thioune Brothers, a Senegalese group which in addition to their performance at the concert on the 20th will offer a workshop of African dance and percussion on the 19th. They are also the winners of this edition for their contribution to the spread of multiculturalism.

The events scheduled for 19th and 20th December are:

Friday 19th December 6.30 p.m. - MUMES Workshop African music and dance workshop by the Thioune Brothers. Free admission with limited capacity via prior registration on tallermumes@gmail.com or 922 249 473
Saturday 20th December at 7.30 p.m. - Concert and presentation of ther MUMES 2014 Award. It will take place at the Teatro del Círculo de Bellas Artes of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Admission is 5€ and the doors will open to the public from 6.45 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the box office on the day of the concert from 5 p.m.. The concert will have the performers:
