IX Encuentro con Mujeres que Transforman el Mundo

While one part of our society is questioning the rights of half of the population, a group of women who have shown that they are capable of reinventing the world with their projects are arriving in Segovia once again this year for their annual meeting.

Casa África has collaborated with this meeting since its first activities and this year contributes through the participation of Bahijjahtu Abubakar, Nigerian activist and global environmental expert, who will talk with Pilar Requena on Saturday 16 March at 8:30 pm on “The role of women in the challenges of climate change”

Bahijjahtu Abubakar is one of the leading environmental experts in developing viable, people-centred responses to mitigate the effects of climate change and stimulate ways of creating alternative sources of clean, reliable and sustainable energy.

Bahijjahtu is the founder of RUWES (Rural Women Energy Security), an initiative born from the need to save lives, save the Earth and improve the economy by eradicating energy poverty among rural women.

Nearly 100,000 women in Nigeria die each year from inhaled fumes from cooking with firewood. Thanks to RUWES, two million women have received training on wealth creation and the use of clean energy.

She, together with other Women who are Changing the World, is coming to Segovia once again this year for a series of face-to-face conversations on stage which will show the true situation of women in different parts of the world and from different spheres through this ninth meeting that will take place from 15 to 17 March 2019 in La Cárcel Centro de Creación (Avda. Juan Carlos I s/n).
