IV Symposium sobre África Subsahariana: Cultura, Política y Cooperación
Casa África is collaborating with the Universidad de Salamanca to organise the fourth edition of this symposium. It will take place from the 1st to the 8th of April and it aims to be a meeting about current issues for Sub-Saharan Africa, which will include presentations by European and African experts on African culture, politics and cooperation.
Casa África´s contribution to this event is centred on promoting the presence of expert European and African speakers in the field of African culture, politics and cooperation.
In addition, the general secretary of Casa África, Luis Padilla, will be the moderator for the round table that will take place with African ambassadors in Spain to discuss the current situation of Africa.
Lastly, Casa África will contribute to this symposium the film season titled "Independence, Pan-Africanism and Black Identity", which will take place from the 28th to the 30th of March in the Assembly Hall of the Universidad de Salamanca´s Psychology Faculty. Casa África will contribute the following films:
- Eldridge Cleaver Black Panther (William Klein, 1969 )
- Festival Panafricain d’Alger, (William Klein, 1969)
- Lumières Noires (Bob Swaim, 2006)
Casa África sponsors Cinenómada because it has the same objective as Al-Tarab of making African cinema visible to as many Spanish audiences as possible and of brining Africa closer to Spain.
Cinenómada makes available to various entities a large selection of films from past editions of the FCAT, subtitled in Spanish, which is to date the only offering of this dimension and genre that exists in Spain and that guarantees African producers an income, which although modest, is often the only one they receive.
It targets associations, municipalities, regional governments, universities, cultural centres, film libraries, museums and any type of organisation or institution that is interested in promoting African cinema. Cinenómada distributes films throughout the year that would otherwise remain only in specialised festivals.
Students who register for this symposium will receive three free study credits.
