II Encuentro. Foro de Entidades Africanas de Cataluña

This forum hopes to be a meeting area for African organisations and Africanists, where work networks and synergies can be created to help strengthen the associative network of African origin and change the general view held about Africa.

In 2010 the first meeting of African organisations in Cataluña was held, in which nearly sixty associations took part from all over the Catalan territory. This first meeting was organised by l’Espai Àfrica- Catalunya, Casa África and the Secretariat for Immigration, with the support of Barcelona Town Council.

The 2nd meeting "Forum of African organisations" hopes to continue with the dynamics started two years ago by establishing an annual meeting where through debate workshops it will cover the needs, obstacles and/or challenges of the African associative network and strategies will be proposed to work with them in a coordinated and collective manner.

The meeting will take place on Saturday 21st April at the Casa Del Mar of Barcelona (Carrer d'Albareda, 1-13) and supporting this initiative, Casa África intends to follow the roadmap of African associations in Cataluña, favouring the creation and consolidation of provincial and regional platforms, as a first step to establish a possible State platform.

The main aim of this meeting is to strengthen the association movement of African groups. This regional meeting thus pursues:

To facilitate and open up an area for mutual closeness and knowledge between the different associations and groups of Sub-Saharan Africans that live in Cataluña.
To strengthen the consolidation of support networks of the Sub-Saharan citizens and their organisations.
To strengthen the role of African associations as social and political agents in Cataluña.
