Gran Fiesta África Vive en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
As in previous years, it includes activities for all ages in order to celebrate Africa Day, celebrated each year on 25th May to commemorate the creation of the African Union.
There will be workshops on interpretation, dance and percussion; storytelling for young audiences; a day for gastronomy and a concert.
Aimed at families, young people and children, the Africa Vive Festival is celebrated as the result of collaboration with different sponsors, institutions and groups who add their grain of sand so that this inter cultural experience once again becomes a reality and brings African culture closer to the capital of Gran Canaria African by the hand of its protagonists. The event will again be held in Parque Santa Catalina on Saturday 24th May from 11 am following this programme:
- 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.: Interpretation, dance and percussion workshops Parque Santa Catalina. Free admission.
Workshops from the Thioune Brothers - Khaly and Aly - merge dance, music and acting, interacting with all audiences. Specifically 3 workshops will be organised in each of the following topics: dance, percussion, African masks and African plaits - 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Storytelling for children and families. Next to the Elder Building Admission is free. Storytelling sessions by the narrators Bonai from Equatorial Guinea, and Mary Buenadicha, from Spain, who bring us the oral tradition of African peoples in this fun and educational way
- 1:00 p.m.. to 2:00 p.m.: African dance workshops. Parque Santa Catalina. Free admission.
Aimed at both children and adults, they will be taught by Leatitia Bonnemain, who hopes to channel joy through comprehensive and explosive movements involving the whole body with strength and harmony. - 13.00h: A Gastronomy day in the Elder Building Food will be sold from different African countries and they will be presentations in the form of show-cooking where chefs will demonstrate live how the dishes are made
