Festival Amal
Amal is the only Arab Film Festival in Spain. Active since 2003, each year the festival transforms Santiago de Compostela into a meeting point between European and Arab cultures. This is proven by its extensive programme: aside from the best Arab cinema, Amal offers exhibits, contests, film workshops for children, and an Arab culinary week.
Since 2007, the Cinenómada programme has collaborated with the Festival by contributing titles that belong to its Film Collection. This year, the films that have been scheduled are:
Harragas (by Merzak Allouache), which competes in the official selection of fiction feature films and will be shown on Sunday the 24th at 10:30pm in the Teatro Principal of Santiago de Compostela
Es domingo (It´s Sunday) (by Samir Guesmi), which competes in the official selection of fiction short films and will be shown on Wednesday the 27th of October at 7:30pm in the Teatro Principal of Santiago de Compostela
Amal offers viewers the possibility of accessing films that don´t reach commercial circuits due to a lack of distribution. The films and the colloquiums with directors comprise a fundamental portion of the Festival, and they are a meeting point for promoting dialogue between professions from the world of the seventh art.
The Amal 2010 edition will take place from the 23rd to the 30th of October, coinciding with the Year. View all of the information in its webpage
