EuroPhotoBrik

PhotoBrik (PHBK) is a photographic solidarity initiative where various activities are undertaken, among which we should mention conferences with renowned photographers. As has already happened in the past, Casa África joins this initiative again and will be the venue for the talk that will be given on 12th November by the photojournalist Pablo Tosco.

Those attending the talks collaborate by donating milk cartons that are then distributed by the Food Bank of Las Palmas to the neediest families. In previous editions, the turnout was quite high, collecting thousands of cartons of milk, a figure that the organisers always aim to exceed.

EUROPHBK arises from the need to create synergies and expand, with the sole intention of joining forces and creating empathy for a common cause, which is solidarity.  This is understood, not from a local context, but in this case from a European framework, bringing us closer through the image and reflection of our neighbouring continent, Africa.

On 12th November 2015 , at 7.00 p.m. in Casa África's Nelson Mandela auditorium, the conference will take place: Pablo Tosco, an approach to the photojournalism story of humanitarian crises.

Pablo Tosco has a bachelor's degree in Social Communication from the National University of Cordoba, Argentina, and Masters in Creative Documentary by the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

He has carried out several documentary projects as a director, cinematographer and camera operator. He has also worked in the photographic and audiovisual recording of projects for  international cooperation and development.

Since 2004 he documents projects of cooperation, development and humanitarian action in Africa, Latin America and Asia, documenting projects in countries such as Angola, Chad ,  Morocco, Burundi , Darfur, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Mauritania,  Burkina Faso, Liberia or  Sierra Leone for Intermón Oxfam.
